FAQ
Do I need a referral letter?
No, you don’t need a referral from your doctor, you can come see us directly.
Can I use my private health insurance? How do I claim?
Absolutely – if Physiotherapy is included in your package.
We have a HICAPS machine on site, so we swipe your card, your health insurance will pay a portion directly to us, then you just need to the pay the difference (GAP)
I don’t have private health insurance, can I still come?
Yes you can. If you have a concession card, we offer a discount too.
Does Medicare cover Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology or Massage?
Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover very much with Allied Health. Only chronic cases and illnesses are considered, and you need to discuss this with your doctor. If you do receive a Medicare Referral from your doctor, please discuss this with our reception when making your appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
Call our friendly receptionist and they will ask you a series of questions to fit you with the right therapist. The more you can tell us, then better prepared we are for your appointment.
What should I do if I have to cancel?
A minimum 24 hours notice is required, or a fee is charged. If you find yourself unable to attend, please call the reception as soon as possible. If we do not hear from you, then ufortunately we will bill you for the missed appointment.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
You will be required to fill out a Patient information form and then be introduced to your therapist, where they will talk to you about your pain history and medical history. From there, they will be perform an evaluation, evaluating your strength, range of motion, mobility and function limitations. Treatment will generally start on the same day as your initial appointment.
How long will my appointment be?
Your initial consultation is generally 30-40 minutes.
What do I need to bring?
Any scans, x-rays or test results regarding your injury or area of pain is generally very helpful for the therapist. If you have a current medical history and medication summary from your doctor, this can be helpful too.
What should I wear?
If you are receiving treatment, the therapist will need access to that area of your body. Our treatment areas are private individual rooms, where the therapist can provide you with towels for coverage, if necessary. If you are coming straight from work, or it’s a bit too cold to wear what you feel comfortable in, we have bathroom facilities available nearby.
How often will I be coming for therapy, and how long for?
This will vary depending on the injury. Everyone responds differently to treatment. At Select Health Group, we aim to restore and maintain your physical health and well-being, as quickly and efficiently as possible. A treatment plan will be discussed at your initial appointment and further follow up visits.
Be assured that your health is our main concern, and that we are here to treat the CAUSE, not just the symptoms. We will also provide you with self-management techniques to reduce future episodes.
How much will it cost?
The cost of sessions varies based on rebates that you may be entitled to. These rebates are through your private health insurance, medicare etc.
However we understand that everyone is in a different position financially, however we would still like to help you. Therefore should finances be an issue the feel free to speak with our understanding staff and we will be able to tailor treatment sessions around your financial situation.
